Interaction between paintings and prints
Some of the most interesting discovery's can be made by comparing work from several art disciplines. It offers a broader view and ad's additional references.
Looking for comparison in paintings, drawings, prints and even statues can give insight in the initial origin of the work, and the creating artists involved. It can lead to a real breakthrough to identify an art work.
On the left some recent successes in my collection.
In both cases the painting and the print are very near to each other but each adding details suitable for the medium.
The one on top is almost identical to a Justus Sadeler print from around 1600 signed 'Paulus Bril inventor'.
The bottom work, both painting and print are designed by Roelandt Savery as is mentioned on the print by Aegidius Sadeler. It is one of his set of six landscapes from Tyrol.
